Don Mackay Unit
The Mackay Unit is a 40 bed high care residential unit, providing nursing home type care in a secure setting in a comfortable home like environment. 38 beds are for permanent residents whilst two beds are available for temporary respite care. Experienced appropriately trained staff provide 24 hour care that is tailored to meet the needs of each individual resident.
We are proud to provide a contemporary service that takes into account the emotional, spiritual and physical requirements of each resident. Our goal is to ensure the person afflicted with dementia maintains their independence and dignity with the optimal level of function whilst feeling happy and secure in their environment.
We are able to access support from other professional services when required to further ensure all care needs are met.
The Mackay Unit provides residents with an individual room with en-suite facilities. Each room also has access to television & telephone service and pay TV.
The Unit is supported with lounge and dining rooms, kitchenette, sitting rooms, courtyard and gardens. Residents also have access to a chapel, activities room, private function room and hairdresser along with podiatry and physiotherapy, pharmacy and medical services.
